Critical Acclaim
WE92Wine Enthusiast 9/1/2011
"A suave and smooth mix of Dufftown and Speyside Scotches. The burnished copper spirit has lively orange peel, butterscotch and baking spice notes and a buttery finish. Good value." (92 pts.)
WE85+Wine Enthusiast 12/31/2008
"The muted nose features scents of heather honey, oak and dry breakfast cereal. Palate is very nice with floral, intensely grainy and off-dry flavors; midpalate displays harmonious flavors including black pepper, honey, light caramel and wood resin. Ends with no single component dominating." (85–89 pts.)

"If that doesn’t have all the charm and floral qualities of Speyside single malts such as Glenfiddich and Balvenie I’ll eat your tam-o’-shanter. William Grant’s Family Reserve tastes like elegant Speyside malts because they are the backbone of this overlooked blend." (85–89 pts.)
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2011 This spirit needs some time to open up, and then mild raisin and burnt-orange aromas peek through. Caramel flavors give over to a lingering smoky finish. The distiller claims that this blend is the only one created for mixing; surely it would be nice served tall, with lots of ice and ginger ale.
WE85+85–89 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2008 Opening aroma is intensely grainy and cracker-like, with background notes of flowers and pine; aeration brings out the grain spirit in uncomplicated scents of pine, flax and beeswax. Entry is pleasantly sweet like caramel (but not too sweet); the midpalate adds sweet flavors of honey, pipe tobacco and tar. Ends nicely sweet and grainy. Best Buy.
