Why Can't We Ship This Item?
Either the bottle is too large for our packaging (i.e. we cannot ship anything larger than 750 ml), the dimensions/shape of the bottle doesn't fit within our packaging for safe shipment, or this is a widely-distributed wine (e.g. Barefoot, Yellow Tail, etc) which we only sell at our physical store or for in-store pickup.

Where It's From
Region / Mosel
Mosel is home to some of Germany's finest white wines, a majority of which are Rieslings. The region surrounds the Mosel, Saar, and Ruwer rivers, and the soils in the region (full of Devonian Slate) make it perfect for growing Riesling grapes. The resulting wines are known for their aromatic floral bouquets and pronounced minerality.
Country / Germany
The German wine-making tradition is long and illustrious, dating back to as early as AD 800. And for a country just slightly smaller than Montana, Germany produces and consumes a great deal of wine (it's the seventh-largest producer and sixth-highest consumer).
Germany is situated at the most northerly latitude at which grapes can ripen; the winters are cold and the growing season short, all of which, incidentally, are nearly identical to the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Most of its wine regions are situated in central and southwestern Germany. The most significant are the Rheingau, Rheinhessen, Rheinpfalz, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Nahe, Franken and Baden.
The Riesling grape is king in Germany, even though it represents only 20% of total plantings: Müller-Thurgau (a Riesling-silvaner cross) has the most, followed by the red grapes Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Dornfelder. In good years and in the care of master winemakers, Riesling makes one of the greatest white wines in the world, with a perfect balance of sugar and acid, exquisite fruit and fragrance and with considerable potential for aging.

2003 / 375 ml.
Lean, sweet and intense, this has plenty of underlying structure lending racy support to its caramel and apricot preserve flavors and concentrated texture. It finishes with a nutty aftertaste. Drink now through 2025.

Whiffs of sun-burnt slate lend contrast to bright nectarine and citrus peel flavors in this clingy, textured Kabinett. Bristling acidity balances delicate swathes of honey- and nectar-like sweetness that linger on the finish. It’s delightfully refreshing, with complexity to linger over.
The 2015 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett is clear and flinty on the nose and delivers the typical ripe, lush and sensual fruit aromas of this famous grand cru. Piquant and racy, but also lush and juicy on the palate, this is a pure, fine and elegant but pretty sweet Kabinett. However, the wine is very attractive, but probably not as concentrated or complex as the corresponding Würzgarten.

2016 / 375 ml.
This product of November 30 and December 5 pickings at multiple sites (Erdener Herrenberg prominent among them) delivers a slightly sweet-sour meld of green apple and apple candy with glazed pineapple. It displays prominent glycerol and considerable sense of stuffing to help buffer its blazing, penetrating, tangy brightness, and finishes with penetrating if edgy and only moderately complex persistence. I would permit it a year or two to settle itself, but given Eiswein’s caprices, I wouldn’t lose track of any bottles I cellared.

Lemon-lime notes distinguish this intense, tightly wound Riesling, along with notes of lanolin and lilac, with vivid acidity matching the rich finish. Best from 2024 through 2039. 500 cases imported.
The 2019 Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese is fine and subtle on the pure, herbal and crunchy/stony nose. Classy on the first palate, this is a sweet, piquant, racy and stimulatingly salty Würzgarten Spätlese that is still terribly young and needs some years to soften and gain finesse. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.

I love the mandarin-orange, bergamot, spice and curry-leaf aromas that pour from the glass. So much succulence, but also so much drive make this a very exciting Spätlese. Very bright and clean finish that extends a long way out.

A revolutionary style of Mosel Kabinett! A tornado of herbal and spicy aromas with stacks of dried orange peel and smoke. So much energy on the palate that is analytically sleek, but bold and very harmonious. The interplay of restrained tannins and juicy fruit, crisp acidity and spicy character is spectacular. So much structure at the powerful and compact finish! Drink or hold. Screw cap. (Stuart Pigott)

Only $12.59 each when you buy a solid or mixed case
Rich and giving, with intense acidity cutting through the fat. This is full of passion fruit, pineapple and mineral flavors, concentrated by a touch of cream. A crunch in the texture elevates the whole experience. The finish comes back in a wave of tropical fruit and mineral elements. Best from 2021 through 2032. 500 cases imported.

A super-expressive and very bright wine for a Mosel Spatlese with a ton of currant fruit right across the spectrum from black to white. Wonderfully complex palate that’s as juicy as it is herbal, with a touch of wild berry character that lifts the finish beautifully. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
The 2021 Ürziger Würzgarten Spätlese is coolish, clear and herbal on the nose, with ripe bright fruit and flinty terroir aromas. Good intensity. Lush and round yet also tangy and savory on the palate, this is a seductive and crystalline, saline and elegant Würzgarten that will come out as a long-distance runner. Tasted as a sample ready to be bottled in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)
Despite the rich, ripe profile, this shows serious savory character, with green tea, spicy white pepper and smoked celery seed infusing a base of green plum, kiwi and clementine. Long and silky. Drink now through 2031. 1,000 cases made, 500 cases imported. (Kristen Bieler)
