"Made from hand picked fruit from the oldest Riesling block at Dr. Konstantin Frank, the Eugenia is stoic yet inviting in its dryness. This wine is so refreshingly obstinate in its nature, each sip seems to cast a fistful of shale through the credulous window of thought that all Rieslings are syrupy sweet and cloying. Clean flinty aromas of crisp green apples are joined by hints of lemon poppyseed poundcake with buttercream glaze. The palate offers a laser focused acidity, where classic notes of wet stone and peach pit give way to fresh wax beans and lime zest, with a wonderful, mineral-laden finish that lasts nearly half a minute. Eugenia isn’t afraid to lead and needs a confident dance partner when it comes to food pairing. I enjoyed this with grilled pork loin marinated in lime juice, honey, garlic and adobo-seasoned chipotle peppers with a Caesar salad while listening to John Lennon’s 1974 album “Walls and Bridges”. A truly stunning wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared for 5+ years."

"A very striking, herbal and licorice nose leads you into this sleek and polished dry white. Some tannins give grip to the crisp lemon and mineral finish. Screw cap." (90 pts.)

"Juicy and lively, with crunchy acidity carrying a range of fennel, pippin apple, kiwifruit core and lime zest notes. Shows good cut on the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2021. 370 cases made." (90 pts.)
Officially established in 1982, the Finger Lakes region has a storied history of wine production in New York State and is recognized the world over. The deep glacially formed lakes offer sublime growing conditions thanks to the sloping hillsides and moderating effect the lakes have on the temperature of the surrounding area.
The main growing regions are centered around Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake (which each have their own AVAs) but quality wine is being made throughout the region. Riesling is the belle of the ball in the Finger Lakes (oftentimes being compared to the Rieslings of Germany) but success has been had with Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and others.
Seeing as our store is located in the midst of New York's wine regions, we have a special affinity for New York wines. And so should you! New York is now producing some of the world's best Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, and there are lots of other terrific wines made from grapes like Catawba, Niagara, Cabernet Franc and others being produced here, as well. Every year, the quality, reputation, and demand for New York wines continue to soar. What are you waiting for? Uncork New York!
The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
RP94+94–96 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Jun 2019 The 2018 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett is deep but bright and refined on the flinty nose that offers perfectly ripe Riesling and crunchy slate aromas with a warm iron touch. On the palate, this is a lush, refined, salty-piquant, even racy Riesling with generous fruit and a very long, salty-piquant and crystalline finish. This is a highly complex Riesling in the most delicate expression. It’s one of the wines you just have to buy — there won’t be any regrets, not today or in 30 years. Since this Brauneberger has slightly more sulfur compared to the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, which still hasn’t been filtered and was tasted from the lees, I will retaste the wines early next year, as I am convinced a Mosel Riesling needs two winters to unmask itself. Tasted in March 2019.
RP94+94–96 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Jun 2019 Sourced from old vines, the 2018 Elisenberger Riesling Spätlese was harvested in the third week of October as the very last "regular" wine (so 3.5 weeks after the Kabinett). It is based on completely healthy fruit and was vinified entirely in traditional fuders. Offering a deep and flinty bouquet, this is a lush, elegant, highly refined and stimulating Spätlese with a salty-piquant finish. Tasted from the cask in March 2019.
