Why Can't We Ship This Item?
Either the bottle is too large for our packaging (i.e. we cannot ship anything larger than 750 ml), the dimensions/shape of the bottle doesn't fit within our packaging for safe shipment, or this is a widely-distributed wine (e.g. Barefoot, Yellow Tail, etc) which we only sell at our physical store or for in-store pickup.

Bring on the bubbly! Perhaps no other wine region in the world has the name recognition of Champagne, to the point where people often mistakenly use the word "Champagne" to describe any sparkling wine. Yet only wines produced within the region can legally be called "Champagne," and to this day it produces some of the finest sparkling wines known to earth.
Country / France
The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.
Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

Straw yellow and with a golden hue in color, the Pol Roger NV Réserve Brut displays a brilliant, perfectly ripe but also fresh, highly elegant and refined fruit aroma on the nose; think of cooked pip fruits like pears and apples, but also quince-confiture and yellow stone fruits, such as apricots and peaches intermixed with vanilla, brioche (pain aux raisins), some nutty flavors and also some white floral notes. On the palate, this medium-bodied Brut is as round (if not pretty sweet) and fruit-driven as it is delicate, pure and very elegant. The mousse is deliciously fine and leads this charming and perfectly balanced fizz to a long, aromatic, stunningly dry and slightly mineral, impressively long finish. This is extremely well done Champagne from equal parts of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay sourced in 30 different crus. This Réserve includes 25% of reserve wines and was dosed with nine grams per liter.
A well-cut Champagne, with a zesty mousse, this offers a harmonious mix of crème de cassis, Honeycrisp apple, candied ginger and toasty notes, offering a subtle, smoke- and spice-tinged finish. Drink now through 2021. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 110,000 cases made, 12,000 cases imported.
This is a well-balanced, ripe wine in the producer’s rich house style. A brighter, more mineral crispness and acidity also come through strongly in this bottling. The aftertaste brings together a mineral texture and full yellow and apple fruits. Drink now.
Bright white chalk and yellow fruit scents contrast darker tones of root vegetables and earth. This is clean and dry, with minerality that lasts. The acidity makes it a refreshing match for tempura.

The NV Champagne Brut Rose is an attractive pale salmon hue, with a fresh perfume of wild strawberry, ripe peach, white and red flowers, a hint of tropical fruit, and grapefruit. The palate is rounded, with fruit up front and through the mid-palate, and it has a silky and fresh lift. There is a wonderful ease and drinkability to this wine, which delivers balance and finesse. Drink 2022-2037. (Audrey Frick)
Such an elegant, ethereal wine, this orange-pink wine is dry and crisp with fruity raspberry flavor at the fore. This particular bottling could improve for a year, but makes a great food Champagne now.
Pale salmon color, showing notes of sliced strawberries, apples, grapefruit and crushed biscuits. Sleek, dry and fresh, with tight bubbles and a very clear finish. Base wine from 2020 with 46% reserve wine. 45% chardonnay, 35% pinot noir and 20% meunier, of which about 7% is red wine. Drink now. (James Suckling)
A lovely rosé in an almost vinous style, with mouthwatering acidity and a fine, lacy mousse carrying appealing flavors of ripe raspberry, white cherry fruit, star anise, mandarin orange peel and honeysuckle. Lightly chalky on the lasting finish. Enjoy with food. Drink now through 2020.
This mouthwatering rosé Champagne shows lacy texture and precise balance, with the well-honed acidity deftly knit to the subtle, chalky minerality and delicate range of nectarine, white cherry, slivered almond and pickled ginger notes. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Drink now. (Alison Napjus)
Light orange. Vibrant strawberry and orange zest aromas are complicated by notes of tea rose, smoky lees and chalky minerals. Bright, incisive red fruit flavors pick up a toasty nuance with air. Fresh, incisive and refreshingly tangy, with impressive finishing clarity and stony persistence.
Pale, orange-tinged pink. Vibrant, spicy aromas of orange peel, ruby-red grapefruit and floral honey. Focused and pure, with juicy orange and tangy rhubarb flavors and a lush, velvety texture. This is weightier than previous bottlings of this cuvee, but has the usual precision and lift expected by long-time fans of this rose. Finishes with juicy citrus flavors and a late mineral jolt.
The NV Brut Rosé emerges from the glass with the essence of freshly cut flowers, berries and minerals in a mid-weight, gracious style. It shows gorgeous inner perfume, along with persistent notes of chalkiness that frame the long, sublime finish. Year in, year out, this estate’s NV Brut Rosé is one of the most consistently outstanding wines in the region.

Brut Champagne 1er Cru
NV / 750 ml.
This vivacious Champagne dances across your palate, with the lively acidity finely meshed with flavors of poached apple, blanched almond, spring blossom and candied ginger. Clean-cut, minerally finish. Disgorged April 2016. Drink now through 2020. 600 cases imported.
A rich and creamy Champagne defined by lively acidity, with anise, pastry cream and salted almond notes, and fruit flavors of baked apricot and lemon curd. Minerally finish. Disgorged December 2019. Drink now through 2023.
This release of the Selection des Belles Années, based on 2013, is brisk and expressive, with an alluring combination of energy and richness. In the glass, the Belles Années is a touch compact, but a bit of bottle age should help. Wonderfully persistent and inviting, the Belles Années has so much to offer. This release is 80% 2013 Gastronome, with 20% reserve wines. Dosage is 5.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: July 19, 2018.

Cuvée No. 744 (2021)
NV / 750 ml.
The NV Extra-Brut Cuvée No. 742 (2014 base) has really opened up since I last tasted it about a year ago. The Pinot is so expressive in the No. 742, a Champagne built on texture and resonance. Dried pear, dried flowers, plum and spice fill out the wine’s frame effortlessly, but the 742 truly shines with a bit of air, which seems to accent its freshness. Readers looking for a fine grower Champagne to drink now will find much to like. The blend is 59% Pinot Noir (from Aÿ, Dizy and Hautvillers) and 41% Chardonnay (from Avize and Oiry). Disgorged January 2019. Dosage is 1.5 grams per liter.
Based on the 2006 vintage, this current release of Jacquesson’s nonvintage wine has richness and power, while tight acidity surrounds the core of pear and pineapple fruits. The touch of steel gives a great final bite.
Based on the 2014 vintage and disgorged with 1.5 grams per liter dosage in July 2018, Jacquesson’s NV Extra Brut Cuvée No. 742 continues the house’s pioneering series of cuvées that employ reserve wines not in pursuit of a constant “house style” but merely with the aim of complementing each base vintage to maximize its potential. Wafting from the glass with a complex bouquet of walnut oil, dried white flowers, saffron, citrus oil and crisp orchard fruit, along with a delicate top note of fino sherry, it’s medium to full-bodied, sapid and incisive, with superb concentration, racy acids and a long, resonant finish. I found it irresistible.
A creamy and harmonious version, with a fragrant skein of spice that unwinds through flavors of raspberry tart, lemon pastry cream, lime blossom and candied ginger. Lightly mouthwatering on the lingering, spiced finish. Disgorged July 2018. Drink now through 2024. 19,000 cases made, 800 cases imported.
Fresh blossom aromas mingle with flavors of wild cherry, currant and whole-wheat toast in this lacy-textured Champagne. Drink now through 2013. 350 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

A firm and minerally rosé Champagne, with oyster shell and chalk notes underscoring the raspberry coulis and nectarine fruit flavors. Tightly meshed and mouthwatering throughout, with spice and almond skin notes playing on the finish. Disgorged August 2019. Drink now through 2025.
The NV Brut Rosé is flat-out delicious. The word ’balance’ is so overused in wine, but I really can’t think of a better way to describe the Brut Rosé. It is not nervy nor overly rich, but just impeccable in its poise and overall harmony. A healthy amount of Pinot lends volume and intensity to this Chardonnay-based Rosé. This is the sort of wine that is opened and disappears within a few minutes. This release is a blend of vintages 2017 and 2016. Disgorged: August, 2019.
Firm and focused, this mouthwatering rosé is lightly chalky in texture, with an integrated range of white peach, pink grapefruit sorbet and blanched almond. A briny hint of oyster shell cleans the lingering finish. Disgorged September 2018. Drink now through 2022.
Well-knit and minerally, with a crisp texture and flavors of ripe raspberry, poached apricot, tangerine peel and biscuit. Chalky finish. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Disgorged December 2022. Drink now. 667 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

Ayala’s NV Brut Majeur is a solid entry-level wine. Dried pear, hazelnut, spice and licorice notes open up in a pretty, toasted NV Champagne to drink now and over the next few years. The Pinot comes through loud and clear in the wine’s breadth and overall texture. Disgorged: February 2015.
A firm, linear Champagne, with a fine, lively mousse and chiseled acidity defining flavors of ripe cherry, preserved lemon, white blossoms, chalk and ground ginger. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Disgorged October 2022. Drink now. 5,000 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
Luscious ripeness lends this wine a quince-like flavor, feeling round and generous against the chalky briskness of Champagne. For all its fruitiness, this is dry, firm and grounded, a clean aperitif or a first-course wine for a rabbit terrine.
The nonvintage cuvée from this producer, this bottling exemplifies the drier style that’s the firm’s hallmark. It is elegant, a fruity wine that is also crisply textured. Drink now.
This balanced Champagne offers a creamy bead and a fresh mix of ground white pepper, ginger, Red Delicious apple, biscuit and citrus peel flavors. Disgorged July 2017. Drink now. 3,500 cases imported.
The NV Brut Majeur shows lovely balance in an approachable, up-front style well-suited to near-term drinking. Clean, mineral notes add a sense of proportion on the fresh, vibrant finish. The blend is 45% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier, 80% of which is from the 2004 vintage, while the rest of the wine is composed of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay reserve wines. Disgorged January, 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2010–2014.

The NV Brut La Française is based on 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier, all fermented in stainless steel and blended with 30% of reserve wines. It is a pure, fresh and well-structured Brut that seems more elegant, complex and round than the Brut Réserve. The persistent finish is clear, fresh and well structured, with refreshing lemon flavors and a nice grip. My sample was said to be bottled in 2014 and disgorged in March 2017 with nine grams of dosage. There is good length and tension here as well as sweet cherry aromas in the aftertaste.
Well-cut and firm, with a smoky underpinning and a chalky texture, this shows an open-knit mix of black raspberry, slivered almond, lemon peel and star anise. Enjoy with food. Drink now through 2020. 25,000 cases imported.
The deep savor of this wine is built out of lees to hint at fresh almonds and toasted wheat. Bubbles refresh its lusciousness, giving it drive. The mouthwatering white and green fruit tones would work well with pan-roasted brook trout and slivered almonds.
A balanced Champagne, with a lively bead and a fresh mix of cherry and pear fruit, toast point and candied pink grapefruit peel notes. Modest on the minerally finish. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Drink now. 47,000 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
This ripe wine is balanced with some fine bottle aging. That gives both a toasty aroma and some yeasty flavors on the palate. The wine is packed with citrus and crisp white fruits — it’s floral and immediately attractive. Drink this Champagne now.
Pale yellow, with an energetic mousse. High-pitched floral and apple aromas are bright, accented by a refreshing note of mint. Yeasty and toasty in the mouth but ultimately a more delicate style, with fresh, sweet citrus and peach flavors. Finishes on a note of fresh bread, with a bit more weight than recent releases of this cuvée.
