From the Producer

The robe is deep ruby in color. The nose is complex with aromas of cocoa, red fruits and figs layered with cinnamon and a touch of smokiness. The palate unveils seductive aromas of black fruit with very well-integrated oak. This wine has great balance and an exceptional freshness. Amancaya 2018 is pleasant to drink now and offer great aging potential.

Critical Acclaim

RP91 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 31st Mar 2021

"The 2018 Amancaya, a blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, aims to combine the fruit and freshness of Malbec with the power and complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon. It was partly matured in oak barrels and keeps a fruit-driven and ripe profile with a soft palate with very fine tannins. 303,600 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2019." (91 pts.)

VN92 Vinous Nov 2021

"The 2018 Amancaya is a blend of 70% Malbec with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon from Altamira and Agrelo, Mendoza, 50% aged in used French barrels for 12 months. A dark, garnet red in color. The aromas range from plum to blackcurrant jam with hints of country herb and subtle aging notes. A French-style wine, the palate is on the skinny side with fine, slightly reductive tannins anchored in an acidity that makes for a juicy balance. This is an unusual combination for Argentina." (92 pts.)

JS94 JamesSuckling.com Thursday, January 14, 2021

"This shows blackberry, tobacco, coffee and iodine aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Polished, yet happily dense with creamy tannins and a long, savory finish. So drinkable now, but will improve with age. 70% malbec 30% cabernet sauvignon. Drink or hold." (94 pts.)

Mendoza

Mendoza is Argentina's biggest wine region, and with a footprint that spans a diverse geography, it's able to produce a wide array of wines. Chief amongst them are Argentina's ever-popular Malbecs, but you'll also find world-class Cabernet Sauvignons, Chardonnays, and more produced here. The geography is diverse, but tends to be mountainous, and the higher elevations play a sizable role in grape growing, providing cooler temperatures at night.

Argentina

Argentina took the wine world spotlight in the late 20th century with its plush, smooth Malbec. While the popular red grape still reigns supreme, Argentine wineries are increasingly putting forth excellent examples of multiple varietals, all at the extraordinary bargains that make this region so accessible.

Now the fifth largest wine-producing nation in the world, Argentina enjoys high-altitude and low-humidity vineyard sites, comparatively unencumbered by insects and disease. Argentina’s unique terroir has captured the interest of such internationally celebrated winemakers as Paul Hobbs and Michel Rolland, both of whom have projects in the country.
