DESIGNATIONS

From the Producer

Predominately based in the volcanic red soils of the Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity Hills, our Reserve Pinot Noir showcases spicy elegance and silky texture. The 2018 vintage introduces our first Reserve with a touch of marine sedimentary soils from the Giving Tree Vineyard, located in the foothills of the Coast Range, providing just a touch of muscle. Raspberry, dark plum, and cardamom and an underlying minerality weave with delicate, polished tannin and dynamic energy. Cold soaking and fermenting entirely in small, 1.5-ton fermenters enhances silkiness, while 20% whole cluster inclusion contributes freshness, layered complexity, and vibrant length.

Critical Acclaim

WE92 Wine Enthusiast 9/1/2021

"This is a four-vineyard blend, scented and framed with toasty oak. The midpalate fruit blends blackberry, blueberry and plum, with a dash of chocolate. The tannins have an appealing ruggedness, and add a green tea note to the finish. The wine was aged 16 months in 30% new French oak." (92 pts.)

WS91 Wine & Spirits 04/21

"With a bright scent of berries and strewn rose petals, this has a ripe cherry core of flavor and a fine texture that’s just grippy enough to be intriguing and long." (91 pts.)

SP92 Wine Spectator Mar 31, 2021

"Refined and sleekly structured, with multilayered raspberry and cherry flavors that are laced with black tea and spice and glide on a long finish. Drink now through 2027. 7,000 cases made." (92 pts.)

Oregon

Oregon didn't burst onto the wine scene until the 1980s, but it has since carved out a name for itself as a world-class region for cooler weather wines like Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. It's most famous for the former, with many critically-acclaimed Pinot Noirs originating in the region. The Willamette Valley is Oregon's most famous and most productive region. Other notable regions include the Rogue Valley, Walla Walla, and Columbia Valley.

While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
