A sturdy tobacco nose shows lots of honey, leather, caramel and an interesting mossy note. The body is full, and the palate offers similar notes as well as the nose, but now there’s also an incredible spiciness that intermingles with the other flavors admirably and presents an experience that’s akin to tasting a very old Cognac. The finish is extremely long and warm.

Stunningly complex, harmonious bouquet that includes aromas of pepper, ripe apple, saddle leather, pecan and caramel; a regal bouquet that needs to be approached slowly. In the mouth, melded flavors of candied almond, walnut, vanilla extract, red fruit and old oak dazzle the taste buds. Warm, biscuity, toasted aftertaste. A gold standard for Bourbon.

Lively, complex and deeply aromatic, with hits of Christmas spice, orange blossom and vanilla. It’s spicy on the tongue, with lots of woodsy vanilla and orange. Medium body, this would rock a Bourbon-based Sazerac.

Deep amber-copper. Walnut, fig and sherry like aromas. Lush, broad texture. Lively entry of citrus and fig, with a sweet feel of brown (Mocha) spice. Picks up intensity with a chewy, rich tobacco finish.

Deep amber, with a tawny cast. Moderately full-bodied. Maple, fig, citrus, flan. Rich, compact texture. Quite fruity and assertive on the palate. Excellent balance of wood and thick brown spices enhanced by lovely fruit. Deep and smoky finish.

Simply put, still the finest American whiskey that one can buy at this moment in time. A genuine clinic on what to do with corn, rye, barley, water, yeast, oak barrels and a still.

Deep bronze/burnished orange color; perfect clarity. Out of the gate, the aroma is off dry nutty, oaky, and even a touch spicy; later sniffs reveal elements of caramel corn, popcorn, sautéed butter, and bacon. Entry offers round, elegant, medium-sweet tastes of oak, cereal grain, and buttered almonds; the midpalate stage is fat, bacon-like, meaty honeyed, and ideally oaky/smoky. Taste profile keeps exploding and unfolding well into the finish. A WT/Jimmy Russell masterpiece. As deserving an American whiskey of five stars as there is. Highest Recommendation.
