Cumberland sausage and kipper side by side; early wisps of smoke that develop into something a little spicier; lively barley that feels a little oak-dried but sweetens out wonderfully; still not at full throttle with the signature ka-boom spice, but never less than enlivening. Some wonderful chocolate adds to the smoke; it is wonderful to report that the deadening caramel that had crept into recent bottlings of the 10-y-o has retreated… this is much, much closer to the mark and a quite stupendous malt to be enjoyed at any time. But at night especially.

Orange amber, full-bodied. Smoke, peat, pepper. Big smoky peat aromas. pronounced dry peaty character on an oily viscous mouthfeel that gives this a mouth coating quality and a lingering finish. A big, dry and assertively styled malt.

PEATY - Shows how comforting peaty can be. The smoke and iodine nose comes off toasty, showing a flirtation with fruit, while the palate is like a piece of toast slightly coated with fruit, spice and rich honey. The toast progresses to more smoke on the finish.
