A fine, very pure style of Champagne. Has hints of toast and citrus fruits that come together in a style that is almost the essence of Champagne. Crisp, rich and complex.

From a fine house, this bubbly has classic aromas of yeast and lime, with a hint of vanilla and coconut. In the mouth, it’s rich and full-bodied with delicate citrus flavors and good acidity, but very dry. It’s mostly notable for balance and harmony. An elegant, smooth wine with a good deal of complexity and finesse.

Lush and creamy with a medium-dry finish that lingers; the structure says that some bottle age will complete this package.

Beautifully integrated aroma. Smooth and creamy in the mouth, rich with fruit, the fine effervescence carries the wine’s full flavors as if they were weightless. Dry, leesy length of flavor, with touches of complexity.

A clean and lively nose leads to an explosion of bubbles on the entry. Full bodied and high in acidity, the palate shows a zesty green fruit quality through the lingering finish.

Pale straw in color with a fine bead. As always, this is an elegant, distinctive and impeccably crisp Champagne. It is the epitome of stylish; tightly focused, it gently unwraps itself into a graceful, immaculately clean finish that’s lightly toasty and hints at coconut and vanilla wafer.

A rich Champagne, beautifully elegant, toughed by yellow fruits, apples and just the right amount of weight. There are final hints of toast, spice and creamy coconut milk, giving a Champagne that is as much about wine as about bubbles.

A pretty, clean and pure wine; light toast and citrus come together in perfect harmony; crisp and clean on the finish; a wonderful value.

Shows elegance and finesse, but also an understated power, as the initial richness gives way to the firm structure, setting the stage for biscuit, honey and ginger notes. Fine length. Drink now through 2010.

Elegant, distinctive and impeccably crisp bouquet that suggests clove and mint. Stylish, concentrated and tightly focused, this is a classy fizz that extends gracefully through an immaculately clean finish.

Tasted from a half bottle, the rich and complex flavors of Brut La Française show just that extra touch of maturity. The wine has peach and almond flavors that contrast well with the taut, nervy edge. It’s full in the mouth and ripe, and works well both as an apéritif and a food Champagne.

The deep savor of this wine is built out of lees to hint at fresh almonds and toasted wheat. Bubbles refresh its lusciousness, giving it drive. The mouthwatering white and green fruit tones would work well with pan-roasted brook trout and slivered almonds.

90 pts. : November 30, 2011

Balanced, with a rich, toasty character, bright acidity and subtle notes of lemon curd, cream, quince paste and fleur de sel. Ends with a firm, minerally finish. Drink now through 2015.

Subtle overall, offering a creamy mousse and a pleasing juiciness to the notes of apricot tart, slivered almond, orchard blossom and apple. Drink now.

A round, generous style, offering peach, candied lemon and honey flavors on a creamy texture. Its mousse is refined, and this turns drier on the long finish. Drink now through 2011.

Pale golden yellow appearance. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Apples, toasty yeast. Nutty accents on the nose. Rich, concentrated flavors have an apple quality. Great mouthfeel with a hint of astringency on the finish. Well structured and substantial.

89 pts. : Nov/Dec 2002

Fruity aromas of apple, orange blossom, toast and nuts. Fat, ripe and suave; a medium-bodied, middle-of-the-road wine with a moderate dosage and a nice light touch. Finishes clean and persistent. An excellent non-vintage brut.

There’s good cut to this, and the firm acidity finds a nice balance with the flavors of bread dough, spiced citrus peel and juicy Golden Delicious apple, with a modest finish. Drink now.

Pale golden hue. Impressively nutty, toasty, developed aromas. Concentrated and vibrant flavors on the attack with a medium body and a piercing, tautly-fruited finish.

Substantive, with a posh texture and ample fruit flavors accented by vanilla and almond on the lingering finish. Drink now. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

A complete Champagne that pulls it all together: the vivid fruit flavors, the plush texture, the spicy-toasty nuances and the long finish. Even better than when last tasted.

88 pts. : Nov/Dec 2005

Pale yellow, with an energetic mousse. High-pitched floral and apple aromas are bright, accented by a refreshing note of mint. Yeasty and toasty in the mouth but ultimately a more delicate style, with fresh, sweet citrus and peach flavors. Finishes on a note of fresh bread, with a bit more weight than recent releases of this cuvée.

The NV Brut La Française is a pretty, mid-weight wine with good definition in its ripe peaches, flowers and sweet spices, and a refined, clean finish. This is an attractive, well-balanced NV Champagne to enjoy now and over the next few years. The blend is 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. This is Lot: L7146PK00100, disgorged April 10, 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2008–2010.

A round version, showing honey and mineral notes matched to an open, soft structure. It freshens up on the finish. Good as an aperitif. Drink now.

Creamy and leightweight, here’s a mellow Champagne, on the sweet side of brut, with citrus, peach and honey notes. Short finish, but a style that should have broad appeal. Drink now.

Offers a lovely aroma of tropical fruit, vanilla, apple, citrus and spice. The similar flavors are elegant, creamy and finesseful, with lots of flavor, great fruit and a lingering finish — delicious.

…light yellow, has a delightful perfume of vanilla, spice and citrus. The lovely, creamy fruit, laced with spice, vanilla and citrus, is flavorful and delicious, with a long, crisp finish. The NV La Francaise seems to get better each year and it is again outstanding.

What better way to celebrate than to pop a cork from a bottle of fine French Champagne. Full of life, this bubbling sparkler has a fine effervescence with creamy fruit that highlights smooth vanilla, pear, and spice notes and a crisp toasty finish. It’s like “drinking the stars.” So let’s lift our glasses and toast to the good times the holidays bring, we may never pass this way again.
