Moderately full-bodied. Wet stones, anise, dried herbs, charcoal aromas. Great interplay of flavors riding on a lush, expansive palate. The quintessential Russian vodka.

Smooth and cocktail worthy, this vodka has a neutral scent with a very faint malty note, a crisp, lightly sweet flavor and a clean finish. An excellent choice for those who prefer vodka martinis.

90–95 pts. : March, 2009

Early scents of Wheat Thins crackers; aeration stimulates deeper notes of metal, minerals and a dash of tobacco smoke. Entry is beefy, firm, big-textured and dry; at midpalate the taste turns markedly sweeter and adds a charcoal, soot aspect that nicely balances the grain. Sturdy, sweet and sap-like finish. Best Buy.

Charcoal, citrus and minerals. Smooth, soft texture. Fine interplay of smoke with a touch of fruit flavor. Easy, delicate finish.

Impeccable purity; pewter tint. A burst of snack cracker (
Wheat Thins) greets the olfactory sense with vigor and staying power in the opening nosing; additional aeration stimulates deeper notes that include metal/nickel/minerals and even a dash of tobacco smoke; I have always liked this no-nonsense bouquet; it says “vodka” to me. Entry is beefy, firm, big-textured, and drier that I recalled; the midpalate stage turns markedly sweeter as the grain element comes to the forefront as well as a charcoal/soot aspect which nicely balances the grain. Sturdy, sweet, sap-like finish. This vodka works for me on multiple levels. High recommended.

: May, 2008

Excellent structure and seamless from start to finish with very slight lime-zest and vanilla aromas; hints of lime and citrus rind on the palate. Hard to beat; the standard for premium vodka.
