Kevin McPartland: August 1, 2008
“Oh, my Lord” is this wine good. First of all, there are very few ’05 Bordeaux that most people could afford, and this one is one of the best deals now. It has flavors of cherry cola swimming on fine, smooth tannins, and a touch of smoke and blueberries on the finish that stays with you. While you are waiting 15–20 for all your first and second growths to be ready to drink, drink this one in the meantime for the next 10 years at least.

This lower pedigree wine represents undeniable quality/value rapport in 2005. This vintage is so deep in quality among the better run, less heralded estates, that these wines should appeal to readers looking for terrific values from Bordeaux. Most of these wines are Merlot-based and will be drinkable young. Sleeper of the vintage.

A charming petit Bordeaux with lovely currant and cherry fruit, some delicate spice, and beautiful, silky texture, this pure, mid-weight wine is already delicious and best drunk over the next 1–3 years.
