Bright pale yellow. Aromas of peach and butter. Creamy, rich and soft, but with a calcaire underpinning and the acidity characteristic of a high-altitude site giving surprising lift to the back end. These vines are 35 years old, according to Marc Bachelet.

Situated to the southwest of Santenay, the Maranges appellation is at the southernmost tip of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyards are planted on well-exposed southeast-facing slopes consisting of heavy clay soil. The wine has aromas and flavors of cherries, black raspberries and hints of earth and clove. This is a top notch wine for the price and will definitely evolve with aging. Pair this wine with braised duck breast with cherry sauce and sautéed spinach.
