For lighter, summery reds, people often gravitate right to the Pinot Noirs, or else hover in the Spain aisle. As an alternative, definitely check out this Barbera from northern Italy. Light, soft and juicy, if July were a red wine, it would probably be this one! Mellow and easy-drinking, this is excellent on its own, but try it with turkey, pasta or bean-based vegetarian dishes.
