This classic whiskey-based liqueur has a familiar mix of oak, caramel and vanilla flavors. Since it’s only moderately sweet (despite the candy-like aroma) and has a fair amount of alcohol, it’s a versatile mixer with a wide range of soft drinks and juices.

First aromas make me think peaches and blood oranges; later sniffings detect cotton candy and fabric. the gently fruity entry taste pleases the taste buds; at midpalate the peach component becomes more apparent as the orange element recedes. Finishes herbal, slightly honeyed, and more bittersweet than flat out sweet.

Deep topaz/brandy brown color; superb purity. The early on aroma includes notes of buttered almond, baked peach cobbler, and herbs; aeration time of another six minutes allows the aroma to settle in and become a pleasantly fruity, toffee-like, caramel popcorn-like, even biscuity liqueur bouquet. the palate entry displays plenty of spirits structure but no fires or rawness; it’s at midpalate that the flavor profile develops as toasty, semisweet, dried fruit tastes of raisins, peaches, orange peel, and nuts take command. Concludes semisweet, lip smacking, and peppery.
