This rendition of Segura Viudas’s off-dry bubbly is nice and yeasty, with plenty of baked apple pie and buttered toast on the nose. The palate is spunky but round, with semi-sweet flavors of apples and ripe nectarines. Shows some complexity and depth on the finish as well as a richness that makes it to all corners of your mouth.

Clean and stylish, with hints of ginger ale and citrus on the nose. Good in terms of texture and flavors, with citrus and juicy nectarine working the palate. Focused and fairly long on the finish, with depth and integrity. Sweet in the extra dry style, but not candied or artificially sugared.

Floral scents of apple blossoms fill this off-dry Cava. It’s light, airy and firm, a refreshing end to a summer picnic.

Clean, fruity and solid smelling, with a fresh, lightweight palate housing flavors of ginger, lime, lemongrass and powdered sugar. Easy on the finish. Textbook quaffing Cava if you like it a little sweet.

A bit of roasted corn and hay carry the nose if this semi sweet bubbly. It’s round and fruity, with notes of canned pear and hints of sweet spice. Decent acidity and zest ensure that it keeps its balance.

Quite smoky, accenting rich pear pastry, quince paste, marzipan and candied lemon peel notes. This is lightly creamy, with a fine bead and a subtle finish. Drink now.

This wine’s off-dry style emphasizes fresh fruit aromas and flavors with a light toastiness. Not particularly sweet, it’s balanced and soft.

Tart and lemony, with baked-apple aromas, and a crisp, firm flavor that zips right by. Clean and simple.
The Wine Journal: ,
…faintly perfumed with apples, citrus and hints of flowers, peach and vanilla. On the palate, crisp, clean apple, citrus, and hints of peach and vanilla have a faintly sweet finish.
