First nosing passes discover delicate scents of sugar cane and honey. Palate entry is biscuity/sugar cookie sweet, pleasant and medium-bodied; by midpalate, there’s clear evidence of molasses, sugar cane, pine and cocoa. Aftertaste is long, luxurious and mature.

Pretty autumnal gold/honey color — very good purity; the opening nosing passes emit very delicate scents of sugar cane and honey — exposure to air for another seven minutes does next to nothing in releasing further aromas other than a distant nuance of vanilla; the palate entry is biscuity/sugar cookie sweet, pleasant and medium-bodied — by the midpalate point there’s clear evidence of molasses, sugar cane, pine and cocoa; the aftertaste is long, bordering on luxurious and mature; enough of an improvement over the 1996 version to warrant an elevation in status.
