90 pts.Wine Enthusiast: March, 2012
Reminiscent of an oaked Chardonnay with a bit more muscle to it, this vibrant yellow-gold whiskey has a sweet vanilla flavor at first, with hints of tropical fruit and bracing smoke and oak. Give it some time in the glass to open up and let an initial resin-like scent dissipate. Smooth feel.
Malt Advocate: June 1, 2000
The biggest selling whiskey in the Republic of Ireland, and the least expensive of the whiskeys on this list. Don’t let its commonplace demeanor fool you. It has a rich pot still character and is mature enough to drink neat. Its flavors are clear, distinctive, and never boring.
Santé: March, 2007
Vibrant aromas; smooth and complex with a lingering finish if dried fruit, citrus, and honied notes.
Market Watch: January 1, 1997
Peppery nose with notes of cinnamon and allspice; spicy and tingly in the mouth; bold caramel and spice aftertaste.
