A wonderfully complex nose shows a host of spices and a hint of both maple syrup and old leather to complete the experience. The body is full and the palate offers an initial burst of vanilla sweetness followed closely by some rich fruity notes, a smattering of supple old leather and a host of peppery spices.

Deep amber, with an orange cast. Moderately full-bodied. Reminiscent of smoke, ashwood, dried citrus dried herbs. Rich texture. Quite fragrant, with a pungent feel on the palate. has plenty stuffing and fiery power coupled with interesting wood notes. Slightly hot and lingering finish.

The opening whiffs encounter melded notes of spice, sweet grain and saddle leather; additional aeration allows a forceful bouquet of brown rice, beef stock, heady spirit, oak and pork rind to appear. The palate entry is rich, creamy and honey-like; at midpalate the corny/grainy sweetness turns spicy, zesty and spirity as the proof kicks. Ends assertively.

The deep bronze/topaz/dark honey hue is bedazzling and flawless; the opening whiffs encounter finely melded notes of spice, sweet grain and saddle leather — after seven minutes of additional aeration, nuances of brown rice, beef stock, heady spirit, oak and pork rind vie for aromatic dominance — a forceful, but not aggressive bouquet; the palate entry is rich, creamy and honey-like — at midpalate, the corny/grainy sweetness turns spicy, zesty and spirity as the proof kicks in and takes this whisky to its next level; ends assertively, bittersweet and grainy.
