This balanced Tequila has soft honey color and a lightly smoky scent. A touch of sweetness on the tongue winds into a brisk, smoky finish with a light undercurrent of caramel.
F. Paul Pacult’s Spirit Journal: September 1, 2005
Aged for three years in oak barrels. The appearance is a shimmering amber/gold color; minor sediment seen. The opening whiffs detect the buttery/resiny/lightly baked presence of the oak barrels in spades; following another seven minutes of air contact, the woodiness blows off leaving behind drier, more vegetal layers of aroma, including green pepper, green olive, candle wax, and garden flowers. The palate entry accentuates the oak barrel sweetness to the hilt while the midpalate adds succulent notes of cream, caramel, and light honey. Concludes sweet, silky in texture, and classy. By one star’s worth I prefer the sophisticated sass of the reposado, but this anejo is so elegant, who’s complaining?
