A similar but more elegant nose with higher-toned red berry fruit and wet stone aromas that signal the presence of the intense minerality that suffuses the precise and vibrant middle weight flavors that culminate in a delicious, intense and balanced finish. The Les Cras is generally better than the Champs Pimont but in 2009, it’s more of a qualitative standoff even though the character of the two wines is quite different. A choice.

This is full of red fruits — cherry, strawberry and raspberry — matched to a light-weight frame. Supple and juicy, with firm tannins shoring up the finish, where a mineral element reigns. Best from 2015 through 2032.

Dark red in color with a vibrant ruby hue. Delicate notes of violets and lavender on the nose, followed by black cherry and redcurrant on the palate. The body is well-structured, balanced between strong fruit and soft tannins, and the finish rounds out with a touch of spice.
