Dark ruby. A strong herbal element initially dominates delicate notes of redcurrant and dark plum. Enters sweet and creamy, displaying pretty dark plum and black cherry flavors supported by a pleasant mineral underpinning. The smooth but building tannins are quite noticeable on the very long finish: this really needs food to show its best. A couple more years in the cellar should bring greater harmony.

The 2007 Chianti Rufina Riserva from I Veroni is a deep, dark wine laced with black cherries, spices, leather, licorice and tobacco. The attractive richness of the fruit flows effortlessly through to the round, caressing finish. Anticipated maturity; 2010–2013.

Sourced from the second most famous sub-region of Chianti, the I Veroni Chianti Rufina Riserva showcases the elegant tobacco, leather and blueberry notes that Rufina Sangiovese is known for expressing. 100% Sangiovese, this estate bottled Chianti has a smidge of oak, but the fruit and spice are the dominant qualities, and the bright acidity is perfectly balanced, lending the wine great structure and finesse.
