The 2008 Invetro is a ridiculously delicious wine for the money. A blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot from vineyards in Montalcino. The Invetro flows from the glass with layers of dark red fruit, herbs, minerals and spices, all of which come together on a medium-bodied, focused frame of impeccable elegance. This is a very serious wine; in fact it needs at least another year in bottle. Needless to say, it is a screaming value. Anticipated maturity: 2011–2016.

Closed with a pretty glass cork, Invetro (translated as “in glass” in Italian) offers fresh tones of wild berry and raspberry. This easy, lively red blend would match succulent meat or spicy pork.

This Super Tuscan tastes… well, super! The 50% Sangiovese gives the wine bright cherry fruit and vibrant acidity, while the remaining Cabernet and Merlot add rich black fruit and firm tannins. Notes of fig and raisin are prominent, giving a lush complexity to the wine. Excellent with braised meats, or anything out of the slow cooker.
