Martinborough Vineyard Pinot Noir

The 2006 Pinot Noir is endowed with a fabulous, mineral-rich nose, superbly defined with touches of strawberry and boysenberry, the palate very concentrated yet very well-defined with vibrant acidity, ebullient red-berried fruits and a svelte, silky, sophisticated finish. Its quality shines through this lovely wine that should drink over 3–5 years.

Medium red. Dark cherry and musky, spicy earth and underbrush on the nose. Fat, lush and sweet, with very good breadth to the dark fruit and spice flavors. This shows the musky earth and game nuances I associate with Martinborough pinot but has plenty of supporting fresh acidity. Gained in sweetness with aeration but this is still a bit tight. Finishes with chewy, building tannins.

Delicious, deeply layered Pinot Noir with loads of lush, dark cherry fruit and a complex mix of briary, freshly picked berries, earth and plums. Excellent balance and length makes this wine a candidate for aging, but it is really hard to resist now!
