88 pts. Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate: February, 2007
The 2005 Equis is a custom cuvee selected by importer Eric Solomon. The wine is a blend of 40% Bobal, 20% Merlot, and equal parts Syrah, Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards located between Valencia and Yecla. This purple-colored, unoaked wine offers fragrant scents of black currants, pepper, smoke, blackberry, and black cherry. Full-bodied, inky, and concentrated, it has gobs of flavor and a heady finish. Drink this excellent value over the next 2–3 years.

Ruby-red. Dark cherry and plum aromas are open and almost jammy. Lush red berry and cherry flavors deepen with air, picking up a warm, liqueur-like character. With no tannins in evidence, the ripe, sweet fruit runs wild. A lush, creamy style that will appeal to fruit-bomb freaks. And a bargain for the type.

Ruby in color with scents of currants and red fruits. This bargain wine is a blend of 40% Bobal, 20% Merlot and 10% each of Syrah, Cabernet, Tempranillo and Garnacha. The wine sees no oak and the fruit (cassis/berries) and pepper just oozes over the palate, with very little tannin. It has a rich mouthfeel and the finish is big and sweet. One would be very hard pressed to find a wine at this price point with this much fruit and versatility.
