89 pts. Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate: June, 2005
Slightly more backward, but just as promising as the Dos, is the 2003 Uno (100% Mourvedre). A dense blue/purple color is followed by aromas of asphalt, minerals, blue and black fruits, and scorched earth. This big, full-bodied, pure, surprisingly elegant offering will benefit from another 2–3 months in bottle (or decant it for an hour or so in advance), and drink it over the following 5–7 years.

Dark, purply red legs that actually coat the glass a pinkish-purple color. Opaque in color — the thick skinned Monastrell is capable of deep intensity. Ruby red rim showing just a tiny bit of age. Blueberry and blackberry on the nose with an underlying waft of gravely earth. Lush, ripe texture, full-bodied with low acidity (typical of the hot 2003 vintage) and fine, but medium-high tannins. This 100% old vine Monastrell still tastes young. Fruits on the nose carry over to the palate with the addition of white chocolate and a bit of graphite. Long finish. Excellent wine.
