Medium violet. Suave, ripe, inviting aromas of black raspberry, strawberry preserves and candied licorice. Fat and rich, with impressive depth and concentration to its black and red berry flavors and no rough edges or angularity. Finishes velvety and sweet, with lingering berry flavors. Really delicious and a top value.

Upon first whiff, this Spanish beauty smells like raspberry jam and chocolate covered strawberries. Its ultra-extracted style provides loads of rich fruit and a fairly full-bodied structure. Digging deeper into this wine, you will find dark berry flavors interlaced with mild, silky tannins and just a subtle hint of spice. The finish is velvety-soft and very smooth, with a good backbone of blueberry pie filling. A wine this flamboyant needs food that can stand up to its intense fruit flavors. I would suggest barbecued foods with plenty of smokiness and a zesty sauce.

Made from old vines Garnacha grapes (20+ years old), grown just outside the official Rioja denomination. The grapes were left on the vines until extra-ripe, and harvested by hand after the main harvest. Oak barrel fermented. Super extracted, yet on an elegant, medium-bodied frame — not heavy.
