Bright red. Sexy, inviting red berry and subtle spice aromas display compelling purity and focus. Sweet and silky on the palate, with utterly seductive flavors of bright raspberry and wild strawberry. The raspberry note echoes on the gently tannic finish. Bright and elegant for the vintage.

The 2003 Châteauneuf-du-Pape showed nice plum, cherry, and resiny notes, savory, expressive, fleshy flavors, and low acidity. Drink it over the next 5–6 years.

Domaine Giraud is one of many Chateauneuf du Pape estates that has been producing better and better wines over the last decade. Their medium ruby-colored 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals raisiny, sweet, nearly overripe cherry notes along with good body, but a disjointed, diffuse character. I’m not sure this is an accurate portrayal of the wine, but that’s the way it tasted the day I saw it. Drink it over the next 7–8 years.

Medium in body with a low tannin level, making this CDP a great drinker now. The flavors are of raspberries, maraschino cherry and spice. The finish is sweet and bright; drink this one with roasted turkey.
