Syrah and grenache account for most of this blend, but it’s the mourvedre (13 percent) that steals the show, giving the wine a dark, earthen gravitas that pulls against the broad ripeness of its fruit, supporting the wine’s wild blackberry sweetness and leaving behind the savory impression of woodland mushrooms.
