I love a wine with a good backstory and this is a great example. Located between St-Julien and St-Estephe in the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux, Pauillac is home to three of Bordeaux’s five recognized first growths. Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, of the legendary Château Mouton Rothschild estate, created this collection to honor her ancestors, and dedicated this particular wine to Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, who founded Mouton Rothschild in 1853. The grapes, grown in the famed soil of the Pauillac region, are aged in oak barrels for a taste of the legendary quality of an iconic region at a fraction of the price. With strong, dark fruit and nicely developed tannins, this wine is an outstanding value and could be opened now or aged according to your preference.
